plato-head-shot

If Plato failed and produced cruel tyrants (who then eventually became cruel rulers of his time as opposed to his dream to produce great leaders) in his academy, then blame his students and not intellect.

If there was anyone to blame why tyrants exist, your great grandfather’s great grandfather might blame Plato. If you hate Cynics, your grandfather might blame Plato. When people from North Korea are brainwashed and they are unconscious of their suffering (in fact they are living without books, internet, and proper education), the old spiritual leaders might blame Plato and not their president Kim Il-sung. When Saddam Hussein enslaved Iraq for power, they might have mentioned Plato. And when Hitler killed the Jews (and did other worst cruel things in the history), other spiritual leaders might blame Plato and his quest for intellectual and radical atmosphere. Clone Plato and let him defend himself from spiritual groups blaming him for promoting rationality. But is it always logical to believe that rational minds are always the possible tyrants in the future?

Plato was a rational philosopher. His obsession to the idea of producing intellectual and spiritual leaders motivated him to establish the Platonic Academy, teaching mathematics, science and other philosophies. The thing is, we are all like Plato- we have a certain thirst for knowledge and understanding our habitat.

Conservative minds argue that to be radical is to be evil. I say to be radical is to understand your world, to live your world and to be the world. It would be unfair to make intellect synonymous with evil. Just because other scientists claim they are atheists doesn’t prove any stupid mind’s point that to be radical is to forget being spiritual, to forget believing to the Supreme Being.

Humans have addiction towards certain things and to want more out of such things. Knowledge is just one of them. That’s why you go to school, you learn, you keep buying books, you go to school again, you master your specialization and you keep learning. Because man is a rational animal (as stated by Aristotle), we find ways to explain unexplained things. That is the reason why we find schools to somehow give judgment to Aristotle’s statement. Plato is an epitome of man’s desire to seek knowledge and somehow, to be radical without being a tyrant (as opposed to the common notion that rationality totally negates human emotions and that tyrants are pure radicals).
